This is a big week for mystery authors! On Wednesday, June 17 the Christie Capers Mystery Book Club will host 3 new England mystery authors and the public is invited to join us for an evening with Edith Maxwell, Liz Mugavero, and Barbara Ross. Edith Maxwell writes the Local Foods Mysteries as well as a couple of other series (one under the name Tace Baker) and Liz Mugavero is the author of the Pawsitively Organic series. Both of these authors have visited out library before to rave reviews, and this time they have invited their friend Barabara Ross, who writes the Maine Clambake Mystery Series, to join them. All of the authors will have copies of their books available for sale and signing.
But wait, there's more! On Thursday, June 18 we are looking forward to a return visit from Anne Canadeo, who expertly combines mystery and knitting in her Black Sheep knitting Mysteries. Anne also writes Thomas Kinkade's Angel island and Cape Light books under the name Katherine Spencer. Rumor has it that she might be bringing some books to give away. All of her books are available at your favorite bookstores.
Both programs will begin at 6:30 PM and their will have refreshments! Please call 860-627-1495 to register. Walk-ins will be welcomed if seating is available.

Will this infernal winter ever end? We are closed again today (Monday, February ) due to the incessant snow. Don't worry, though, many of us are attempting to work at home between catching up on reading and doing laundry. We apologize for any inconvenience. We will be open at 10 AM sharp tomorrow! In the meantime, access our online catalog at http://lci.iii.com/, log in at the upper right hand corner, and renew, reserve, and browse to your heart's content. All of our databases should be up and running as well. Please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org with any urgent issues. I will be checking my email throughout the day. Stay warm!

Adults can sign up for winter reading anytime during the months of January and February. There is a sheet in the PROGRAMS book for this purpose and sheets for submitting titles that can be given out at registration (one at a time). Please get the name, email, and phone number of everyone participating – don’t just hand them a sheet of slips for submitting titles without signing them up! People are also welcome to sign up online through the blue link on the left side of the home page. The program will run from January 2- March 20.
Titles of books in any format and even magazines can be submitted on slips or online for 4 reading-themed prizes and the grand prize. Titles submitted during the weeks before a drawing will be included in that drawing, then put aside for the grand prize drawing. Titles drawn for the 4 interim prizes will be excluded from the grand prize drawing, but the same person may win more than one prize with different titles. The grand prize this year will be a Kindle Fire HD6.
Prize drawings will be held on Fridays and winners will be called by the following Monday:
March 20 – Grand prize drawing
This year we will also be presenting author visits in conjunction with the Adult Winter Reading program. There is no obligation to attend these author talks, but we would like to encourage participants to share in the excitement of meeting real-life published authors and having the opportunity to purchase signed copies of their books if they so desire. Author visits are as follows on Wednesdays:
January 21 – Susannah Hardy (cozy mystery author)
February 4 – Jessica Handly (Fantasy / Horror)
February 25 – Matthew Dicks (Literary Fiction)
March 11 – Katy Lee (Inspirational Romantic Suspense)
We have a display near the circulation desk featuring works of these and various other authors in these fiction categories.
