Our annual adult winter reading program, Cozy Up to a Good Book, is in its final weeks!  Our last weekly prize will be drawn on Tuesday, February 26 and our grand prize afghan will be drawn from all of the remaining entries on March 8 (you'll have a few extra days to read and submit your final entries).

We have had a great response this year, but we do have less participants and less books being submitted than in the past 2 years, so we are already planning some exciting changes for next year's program!  If you have any additiona;l suggestions please feel free to comment here or to send an email to   Our thanks to all who enthusiastically participate in and support all of our programs.  You're the best!

Our thanks go out to all of you who have shopped our Winterfest book sale.  We appreciate your support!  The sale is still going strong and we have LOTS of books still to choose from, so plan to stop down soon and check out our great bargains.  Hardcovers are $1, paperbacks and kids' books are 50 cents, and DVDs and CDs are just $2.  Our book sales are our biggest fundraisers of the year and our loyal supporters always come through.  Thank you!

The Windsor Locks Library is closed today, Friday, February 8, due to dangerous weather conditions.  Please do not worry about materials due today.  There will be no extra fines accumulated if your books and movies are returned late; they will be backdated to our last open day on whichever day we open again, Saturday or Monday.  If you do try to return items to the book drop and it is full,  please do not leave your materials exposed to the weather or theft because you will be responsible for loss or damage.  Give us a call on Monday if you encounter any problems related to your returns or email us through the CONTACT US link on our home page.  Please stay home today and enjoy this unexpected free time.  I know I will!

The library's Winterfest celebration, originally scheduled for Saturday, February 9, has been postponed until next Saturday, February 16 due to the expected snow storm.  Please plan to join us for our book sale at 10:00 AM and light jazz with Vin Cassotta in the library at 10:30 AM.  Hopefully next week the weather will be better!  Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 16!

Hi, everyone.
Any decisions regarding our book sale and other Winterfest activities will be made once we see how the predicted storm develops.  At this time we are proceeding as if we will be open on Saturday, but only if weather conditions permit.  If we are not open on February 9 the book sale will be available after the storm.

I will post information to this blog, to our web site at and to our Facebook page and Facebook group as soon as we have any news.  Until it starts snow, we have NO plans to close or cancel any planned activities.  Thank you!

We are still waiting for government printing on some tax forms and instructions, but we now have forms 1040 and 1040A (we have run out of 1040EZ but will order more) and instructions for 1040EZ.  We have not received instructions for 1040 and 1040A.  Most forms and instructions are now available at  Forms that cannot be filed until after January 31 may not yet be available.  Thank you for your patience.  Our staff is happy to print out tax forms for you at a cost of 20 cents per page for the paper and ink.  Unfortunately, the government does not provide us with any reimbursement for printing costs.  We will eventually have all of the major forms.  Please feel free to call us at 860-627-1495 to find out what is available.

Our annual Winterfest book sale will be held on Saturday, February 9.  We will also have free coffee from Starbucks during the morning and Jazz soloist Vin Cassotta in the library starting at 10:30 AM.  Right now we are not sure what will happen with the weather, but we will let you know if our plans change.  Our book sale will comtinue throughout the week and into next Saturday, so if the weather deters you, never fear!  You will still have plenty of opportunity to shop!  We'll keep you posted.  We appreciate your support of our book sales and other fundraisers.  Thank you!
